Some funny and very awesome things have been happening around here. Noah is starting to really talk...and not just things that sound like words, but ACTUAL words, which as a parent, is one of THE MOST AMAZING THINGS you can ever witness. When they see the connection from a word to the actual meaning of the word, it's like a light goes on in their head. That is a great moment. Noah's first official word was "dada," directly followed by "ball," "hi," and "bye." I'm still working on "mama" or "mommy," but I don't know when those are going to crop up. Until then, I'll just enjoy the happiness it brings him to have a conversation with someone, even if we don't always know what he's trying to say or he repeats the same word 20 times in a row.
The funny story is as follows: Monday morning I woke up about 7:30 and noticed that the lights were going off on the monitor (for those of you that don't know, monitors let you hear the baby talk, cry, etc...but also have lights that go on on the top of the monitor letting you know when there's noise from the other room as well). I didn't think I had turned it down so low that I couldn't hear him crying loudly, so I turned the monitor up all the way only to hear a deep and heavy breathing. Intrigued and a little perturbed, I decided to go in the other room to figure out what was going on. I opened the door ever so slightly and peeked my head in, only to see Noah, curled up in the fetal position, with his receiver/monitor. He had somehow reached his hands through the slats on his crib, pulled the receiver off the table next to him, and managed to get it back through the slats to inside the crib. I don't know how he did it, but I was amazed....and I laughed so hard, I almost peed my pants. I woke Adam up (which he was not happy about) and made him go in and look. We wanted to take a picture, but didn't want to startle him, so we tried to videotape it, but we keep Noah's room so dark at night, the camera didn't pick anything up.
