*BIG SIGH* Sickness is plaguing my family! Poor Noah's had 2 ear infections now and the chicken pox. Not to mention the cold symptoms on and off AND an upper respitory infection when he was about 4 months old. I'm seriously asking God to keep him from getting anything else anytime soon. I am also sick now. I woke up yesterday morning with a stuffy nose and by the end of the day at work, I had NO voice. We were pretty busy, but still. I didn't have ANY symptoms on Friday, but all of a sudden, I'm sick as a dog. I have 2 more 8 hour days until I get a day off. I think I can make it...that is, if I don't have to answer the phone or talk to anyone. Oh wait...that's what I do all day! Fabulous! Oh yeah, and Adam sprained his ankle working out yesterday morning and had to work on it all day yesterday and today. We're falling apart!
In other news, we're still waiting for Noah to take his first steps. I guess I shouldn't be too antsy about it because once he starts, I'm never going to be able to catch him and there will be no safe place or privacy in the apartment. Hmmm...on second thought, the walking can wait a little bit longer.
I should be getting the invitations for Noah's first birthday party sometime this week, hopefully, earlier rather than later. I will be sending them out immediately after receiving them, so watch the mail! We hope to see you there! It will be April 25th from 1-3 PM.
Hope your weekend is going better than ours!

P90x and....nope. that's really it
My arms feel like they're about to fall off. I don't know how I'm managing to type this right now. Adam and I started P90x today and it's a GRUELING workout. It's a lifestyle change and we are really trying to get healthy right now. Both of us have family histories of heart problems and other possibly life threatening conditions, so we want to try and avoid those as much as possible. Getting healthier is the answer to that. We want to be around for Noah and any other subsequent children we may have for a long time to come.
Speaking of Noah, he's getting more teeth! He now has 4 total, with two more on the way shortly. He's at the stage right now where he just doesn't stop babbling. I don't know who he got that from! I love to talk to him because I know he's actually saying things, I just don't understand them, so I pretend like I do and just talk back to him. He's picking up on a lot of things like, when I put his coat on, a lot of the time now he says, "bye" because he knows we're leaving to go somewhere. He's just like I was at a young age, in that he says "hi" and waves to everyone, even his own reflection. I certainly hope he never gets stuck in front of any cardboard cutouts.

The monitor is my best friend :)
Some funny and very awesome things have been happening around here. Noah is starting to really talk...and not just things that sound like words, but ACTUAL words, which as a parent, is one of THE MOST AMAZING THINGS you can ever witness. When they see the connection from a word to the actual meaning of the word, it's like a light goes on in their head. That is a great moment. Noah's first official word was "dada," directly followed by "ball," "hi," and "bye." I'm still working on "mama" or "mommy," but I don't know when those are going to crop up. Until then, I'll just enjoy the happiness it brings him to have a conversation with someone, even if we don't always know what he's trying to say or he repeats the same word 20 times in a row.
The funny story is as follows: Monday morning I woke up about 7:30 and noticed that the lights were going off on the monitor (for those of you that don't know, monitors let you hear the baby talk, cry, etc...but also have lights that go on on the top of the monitor letting you know when there's noise from the other room as well). I didn't think I had turned it down so low that I couldn't hear him crying loudly, so I turned the monitor up all the way only to hear a deep and heavy breathing. Intrigued and a little perturbed, I decided to go in the other room to figure out what was going on. I opened the door ever so slightly and peeked my head in, only to see Noah, curled up in the fetal position, with his receiver/monitor. He had somehow reached his hands through the slats on his crib, pulled the receiver off the table next to him, and managed to get it back through the slats to inside the crib. I don't know how he did it, but I was amazed....and I laughed so hard, I almost peed my pants. I woke Adam up (which he was not happy about) and made him go in and look. We wanted to take a picture, but didn't want to startle him, so we tried to videotape it, but we keep Noah's room so dark at night, the camera didn't pick anything up.
Groceries for the week: $150
New toys for the baby: $40
Seeing your son curled up with his monitor: Priceless!

The Stroller Story

Spring has sprung here in Mishawaka and although I'm still afraid it's going to snow (knock on wood), it is SOOO wonderful to be able to open the windows and screen door and let some fresh air in. In the spirit of getting fresh air, Adam, Noah, and I have been taking walks as often as we can, providing it's not raining. Yesterday, on our way back, there was this girl that was jogging around the circle we live on and every time she would go by, Noah would track her with his eyes. The last time she went by, it was like she was running in slow motion and Noah not only tracked her with his eyes, but also leaned all the way out of the stroller to see her go by. Needless to say, I'm not really worried about him liking girls in the future, and as Adam would say, "That's my boy!" Ahh....the joys of parenthood. I find it's the simple things in life that make it that much sweeter!

The Pox Progression!
The chicken pox are horrible...good thing he won't remember them! They are finally starting to scab up and go away. Adam and I feel like it's been forever!!! I'm sure it seems longer for Noah, although his daily activities weren't really affected by it. He's still singing, dancing, talking up a storm, and trying his best to stand on his own. He's walking with help and most likely won't need that help soon. Oh my how time flies! Here are some pictures that show the progression of his pox! Enjoy (and have fond itchy memories of the time you had chicken pox! :)
When we first started noticing them...Note the one on his forehead and the few on his chest...

To...completely broken out! Poor kid! Thank God that he is going to be getting rid of them soon! Too bad he had to get his booster shots today for his flu and H1N1 shots. The hits just keep on coming!
P.S. If anyone knows where I can find either a money tree or a reliable vehicle for Adam, let me know! :)
